WELCOME TO THE WORLD MARTIAL ARTS RANKING ASSOCIATIONS PAGE

This page currently offers two prestigious associations that are respected by the  Sport Karate Museum and its website and are listed below. They are:

World Martial Arts Ranking Association

and

World Head of Family Sokeship Council

World Martial Arts Ranking Association

"Recognizing advancement in the Martial Arts with distinction and proper notoriety."

What’s So Special About the WMARA?

If you have done any study of the history of Martial Arts in the United States, you will know that all of the enhancements and improvements in instruction, equipment innovations, and competitive events have been developed and improved in the United States since the introduction of the Martial Arts to our country since the 1950’s.

The 13 endorsers who were instrumental in all of the progress in this activity are considered to be not only pioneers in the industry but as founders who are highly respected and admired for their countless contributions.

These original 13 endorsers are:

J.Pat Burleson   Steve Armstrong   Dr. Maung Gyi   Jim Harrison   Gene Le Bell

Joe Lewis   Edmund Parker   Jhoon Rhee   Allen Steen Robert Trias   Bob Wall

and Bill Wallace.

WMARA founder, Grandmaster J. Pat Burleson,  at his passing, has entrusted its leadership to Grandmaster Jim Butin to carry on the work of this prestigious association.

Your martial arts rank certificate is by far the most important document you have and it should be endorsed by the best Martial Artists you believe in.

After a background check, your present certificate has been recorded and all forms are filled out, your new endorsement by some of the greatest martial artists of the twentieth and twenty-first centuries could be over your mantle or on your studio office wall for proud display.

The National Sport Karate Museum is proud to endorse the World Martial Arts Ranking Association

Bob was born Robert Alan Wall on August 22, 1939, in San Jose, California, to Ray Wall, a construction worker and Reva (Wingo) Wall, a nurse. Wall studied Okinawan Martial Arts under Gordon Doversola. In 1966, he, along with karate champion Jore Lewis, opened the Sherman Oaks Karate Studio in Sherman Oaks, California. In 1968, Lewis sold his share of the studio to Chuck Norris. Robert Wall featured in a number of films, most notably three appearances with Bruce Lee: the 1972 film The Way of the Dragon, as O'Hara in Enter the Dragon   in 1973,[2] and Game of Death (although he only appeared with Bruce’s stunt double), Bruce Lee's incomplete film re-cut in 1978. He has small roles in Norris films, such as Code of Honor (1985), Firewajker (1986), and Hero and the Terror (1988). For more information about Bob and his roll of O’Hara in Enter the Dragon visit the 50th Anniversary entry proceeding the one you are currently viewing.

Bob was promoted to 9th degree black belt under Chuck Norris and the co-founder and CEO of a martial arts organization known as World Black Belt Inc.  In 1975, Wall authored the book Who’s Who in the Martial Arts and the Directory of Black Belts (Library of Congress Catalog Card No. 75-2280), the first book of its kind for martial artists.

He died in Los Angeles on January 30, 2022, at the age of 82.

Professor Gary Lee and the Sport Karate Museum are honored to be entrusted with this historic keepsake and will preserve it for the future generations.
